our programs are disigned
to meet the developmental needs and intrests
of all children - Infants, toddlers/twos,
and preschool children

Precious Pandas Infant Group:
At Cradles to Crayons, we understand that placing an infant in daycare is a difficult decision. Our Infant Staff is qualified, trained, and experienced to help make this transition a smooth one for you and your child. The Infant Program at Cradles is individualized for each child, based on the child's needs, developmental level, and interests. We are happy to work with you to keep the infants' schedule as close to home as possible.
The Infant Program comprises a maximum of 6 infants, ranging in age from 3 months to approximately 14 months, with two teachers. We offer flexible schedules while maintaining the consistency of caregivers.
Toddler/Twos Groups:
Cradles to Crayons offers two Under Threes Groups: the Moving Monkeys and the Dancing Dinosaurs. Each of these groups is a group of a maximum of 8 children with two teachers. Part-time and full-time schedules are also available for both groups.

Moving Monkeys Group:
The age range in this group varies depending on individual needs and abilities but is usually between 14/15 months to 22/24 months. The Moving Monkeys is a transition room. This is such a big “learning” time for toddlers – from bottles to sippy cups, crawling to walking, and from “coos” to using words! The teachers will work with you and your child individually to provide a smooth transition. Schedules are not carved in stone – they are flexible according to the children’s needs. In many cases, it will take some time for your child to get adjusted to our regular routine – this is natural!
Dancing Dinosaurs Group:
As the children approach their 2-year-old milestone, they are becoming more independent and are acquiring new skills. Our program focuses on the development of language skills as well as self-help skills, feeding themselves, taking turns, sharing, etc. Daily routines and reinforcement of guidelines help to make children feel safe and comfortable as they continue to explore their world. Some of the children in this group begin to show signs of interest in toilet training. Though we do not initiate toilet training, teachers work with children and families when signs of readiness are consistent.

Gentle Giraffes (Preschool) Group:
The Gentle Giraffes Preschool Group is made up of a maximum of 12 children with two teachers. Children are placed in this pre-school group if they will be turning 3 years old by December 31st. The pre-school program includes all the elements of nursery school programs such as free choice play, circle time, small group activity, large group activity, fine and gross motor exploration, and teacher-directed experiences through centers. Both Music and Spanish enrichment experiences are also provided. In addition, children can participate in field trips that correlate with the curriculum units of study. The children in this group do not need to be toilet trained. Teachers continue to reinforce self-help skills and self-regulation strategies.
Wise Owls (Pre-K) Group:
The Wise Owls (Pre-K) Group is located in a separate building, specifically designed for older pre-school children (4 and 5 yr. olds). This group is made up of a maximum of 16 children with two teachers. Children are placed in the Pre-K Group if they will be eligible to attend kindergarten the following year. Our program is the last stop before kindergarten, and many of our learning experiences are geared toward making sure that the children are prepared to enter the formal school system. For this reason, we recommend that children attend the Pre-K Class at least three days/week. Children in the Pre-k Group can work independently on many activities. Teachers are available for support and guidance as they develop self-confidence in their abilities and take more responsibility for themselves. As children prepare for kindergarten, they demonstrate a new awareness of letters and sounds and focus on pre-reading skills. They are also learning how to ask questions at a higher level and express their feelings. Enrichment activities are provided in both Music and Spanish. Field trips also enhance the units of study.
